John Legend’s Fiancée Chrissy Teigen Cried When He Wrote ‘All of Me’ for Her
There's a song on John Legend's new album, "Love in the Future," that makes his fiancée Chrissy Teigen cry.
Legend penned the piano-driven power ballad "All of Me" specifically for Teigen, who he will reportedly wed this month.
In the song, Legend sings that he cannot live without Teigen, accepting her flaws and all. "What would I do without your smart mouth," he sings in the song's opening line.
Later he sings, "Love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections."
Teigen said hearing the song moved her to tears. "I did cry when I heard it," she told Huffington Post. "I'm emotional, but I really don't cry at things like that but yeah it's beautiful and live it's pretty unreal."
Last week, Legend revealed that he will sing the song at their wedding. "Yes! … I will sing for her at the wedding," he told E! Tuesday after performing at The Box in New York. "You heard the one that I dedicated to her to her tonight that I wrote for her, the song is called 'All of Me.'"
In an interview with Yahoo! Music, Legend said the entire album has special meaning. "[The album] it's like the beginning of a relationship and seeing where it's going to go," he said. "Obviously, I'm getting married so it had some autobiographical relevance to me."
Legend and Teigen met in 2007 on the set of his video for "Stereo." The Sports Illustrated model portrayed his bikini-clad female lead.
Regarding the sound of "Love in the Future," Legend said that he wanted the album to make a statement about the direction of R&B music. "I was also thinking about music, what the role of soul music is," he said. "I wanted to make a modern soul album, an album envisioning what the possibilities of new soul music could be.""Love in the Future" is co-executive produced by Kanye West and also features production from Q-Tip, frontman for A Tribe Called Quest.
